# 2984  Casey McDermott Honors Commitment to Hopkins

Three years after making his commitment to Johns Hopkins University, senior attackman, Casey McDermott made it official today with the signing of his National Letter of Intent. Casey has been an important part of the Baron offense since he arrived on the Varsity as an eight grader. He will start his senior year with 115g-116a. Last season his 31g-42a perfromance helped him to earn first All Section Five honors along with the D&C super 16 team. Inside Lacrosse lists him as 37 in the 2020 class.

For the seventh time and after a brief absence, Section Five Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. # 2917  Victor Heads to Finals for Seventh Straight Year

Second seeded Victor held off a late push by third seeded Brighton 10-9.  The Blue Devils took control early and held it for a huge chunk of the game.  They led by four goals with four minutes remaining in regulation.  Brighton scored four goals in last four minutes (with Victor adding one of their own) to pull within one goal two different times.  Victor advances to the Sectional Finals for the Seventh straight season.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Thomas scored the first six goals in their 11-10 win over Churchville-Chili.  Although the Titans led by six twice during the contest, the Saints kept the game interesting in the fourth.  Churchville-Chili came within one goal twice in the final quarter, but could not tie the game.  Their tenth goal was scored with 3:04 remaining, but they did not get the needed eleventh goal before time expired. Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Brighton fought back from a two goal deficit at the end of the third quarter to defeat Pittsford in overtime 10-9. In overtime, both teams had attempts at the cage. Pittsford goalie Brecken Catalano recorded 2 of his 14 saves in overtime, but with 0:47 left in the first overtime period, Casey McDermott scored unassisted to give Brighton the win.

Brighton fought back from a two goal deficit at the end of the third quarter to defeat Pittsford in overtime 10-9.  The Barons and Panthers played a back and forth game with both teams leading before Pittsford took a two goal lead at the end of the third quarter. Brighton’s defense held the Panthers scoreless for the final 13 minutes of regulation and another 3 minutes in overtime.

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: It was a big day, with fifteen games and many exciting matchups and when they games were all played, there were five one-goal games and a number of suprising finishes including Brighton at Victor, where they Barons won a 12-8 victory. Brockport was a 9-8 winner over Gates Chili, Greece was a 7-6 winner over Spencerport, Rush-Henrietta was a 6-5 winner over HF-L, Pittsford was an 11-10 winner over Irondequoit and Schroeder was an 8-7 winner over Penfield. Hilton beat Thomas 9-3. It was only the second time the Cadets (7-2) have won against the Titans.

# 2828  Brighton Defeats CBA in 2OT

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closest of games played today, Brighton's junior attackman Lukas Stanat scored the winning goal in the second overtime period. The first quarter was close with Christian Brothers Academy up 2-1, but the Barons responded before the half with four goals and took the halftime breat up 5-3. Five goals from the Brothers in the third quarter tied the game at 8-8 to start the last quarter. Both teams scored three in the final tweleve minutes. With around three minutes left in the game and Brighton up 11-8, the Brothers surged, tying the game with 0:11. Six different Barons made the offensive book led by Casey McDermott (2g-5a) and Stanat (3g-2a). Leading the Brothers were Colin Kelly (2g-3a), Preston Taylor (3g-1a) and Ryan Mackenzie (1g-3a). Brighton, now 4-1 will play Spencerport on Tuesday.

The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

Brighton scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull away from Spencerport.  The Barons won 18-11 after the Rangers scored the final two goals.  Brighton was led in scoring by Brady McDermott with 6g-3a.  The first goal of the game was scored only 0:25 into play with B. McDermott finding Shea McDonald open on the crease after a fast-break down the field.

TUESDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior midfielder Alex Burley came up big for Canandaigua, scoring the tying and winning goals to give the Braves a 7-6 win at Pittsford that saw six ties. In what can only be described as surprising, Hilton scored eight unanswered goals in the first and second periods only to give up eight goals and the 11-10 win to Penfield. Max Hoadley scored the winning goal for the Patriots with 0:02 left in regulation. Gates Chili found themselves tied with Brockport early in the third quarter and after scoring two in a row, held off a last charge by the Blue Devils to take the 6-5 win.

In a game were the score was closer than the contest, Victor defeated Brighton 13-9.  The Blue Devils had an 8 goal lead in the fourth quarter (13-5), before Brighton scored the final five goals.  The Barons kept the game close earlier, before Victor began to slowly pull away.  The Blue Devils held Brighton scoreless for 19 minutes spanning the entire third quarter.  Victor advances to the finals for the fifth consecutive time (three time defending Champion).

Webster Thomas took their first lead with an overtime goal from Colin Horan in the second overtime period to defeat Penn Yan 9-8. The Mustangs led for major portions of the game and had a three goal lead with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Thomas scored the final four goals of the match-up to force overtime and take the win.

March 30th, 2017 - Penfield scored six unanswered goals in the first quarter to secure the lead and never looked back in thier 14-11 win over Brighton.  The Barons fought to keep the score close, but never re-tied the game after the first quartr.  Joey Barboza and Peter Schwab recorded 5g-1a each for the Patriots.
